Exercise and Steam Showers
Posted: August 18th, 2010 | Author: admin | Filed under: Health | Tags: steam showers | No Comments »Perhaps you’ve heard that steam showers may help you both mentally and physically following an exercise workout. You may have also been given a warning that this type of shower shouldn’t be used after vigorous exercise. In fact, you shouldn’t use a steam shower when your body is overheated; many of the benefits of a steam shower apply not only after a workout, though, but at any time. Such benefits include everything from stress reduction, an increased metabolism, muscle relaxation, and relief of pain.
Exercise and steam showers both reduce stress; used one after the other, more stress relief may be the result; however, again, care should be taken not to go in overheated. The steam shower can raise the internal body temperature, as can exercise. Raising that internal temperature too much may not be wise for some individuals. If you have any doubts, you should consult a doctor before using a steam shower or sauna, whether or not you’ve exercised.
That said, there are few things more relaxing than a steam shower. It can help calm the mind and soothe the muscles and increase the body’s circulation . After a workout, muscles are often tired and sore, and a steam shower will help relax them, helping to reduce any soreness the next day.
Exercise and steam showering don’t always go together, but the benefits of engaging in both activities is clear, even if those activities are not conducted at the same time.
