Changing Your Domain Name to Optimize Your Search Results

Even if you just plan on using SEO tools you find and don’t want to hire a company to take care of your SEO needs, you should still work on optimizing your webpage for the best search results. One of the first things you need to do is work on is your domain name. Unless you are already a well known brand who is getting hundreds of thousands of hits a day, you can afford to change your domain name to something better.

Make sure you have a domain name that people can find. Some people choose some really bad domain names. It can be in the way it is spelled . Try not to make some sadly common mistakes like putting an “s” at the end of any word when the next word starts in “ex” as in express or in front of the word talk. You end up with something having to do with sex or stalking.

Don’t use a lot of dashes or underscores. It makes the URL hard to remember or to tell to other people. You want to be able to say it quickly.

Keep it short. If you don’t have to add more to it, then don’t.

Keep your keywords and/or your business name in the URL. This will make it easier for people to find if they are looking for you on a search engine.

What are your suggestions?
