7th Annual Hong Kong Asian Film Festival

Hong Kong is known as an international film center. With over a century of ground-breaking and inspiring films created by the local industry, Hong Kong is the best place to host an Asian Film Festival . The 7th Annual event is scheduled for October 22 – November 8, 2010 and will include screenings at three venues as well as workshops, discussions, and Fringe events.

Founded in 2004 to celebrate Hong Kong’s independent film makers, the HKAFF has historically celebrated Hong Kong-made films and a sprinkling of movies from Korea and Japan. Organizers have promised that 2010 will focus on films from the Mainland as well as Taiwan. The Festival hopes to attract film lovers and film makers from across Asia with this expanded format. Those wanting to attend the festival should book a hotel in Hong Kong now.

The event kicks off on October 22nd with
showing of Lian Ren Xu Yu (Lover’s Discouse) starring popular actress Karena Lam and close with Merry-Go-Round, a film by Mak Yan-yan. The event will also include the first film in 5 years by Stanley Kwan, Show Time, and Fuchouzhe Zhi Si (The Death of Avenger) starring Hong Kong actor Juno Mak.

In addition to short films, Asian classic films, and a showcase of Chinese Cinema: A New Generation, the Festival will pay tribute to Mark Lee Ping-bing and offer a posthumous salute to Satoshi Kon , a legendary Japanese anime director.
