With hundreds of studios and galleries, the Big Apple has been home to the best and brightest artists, whether residents or visitors, all gathering to create, to collaborate, to teach and to learn. Early Feedback on Google Instant

Posted: September 24th, 2010 | Author: | Filed under: Internet Marketing | Tags: | No Comments »

A few weeks ago, Google made a major change to the way they display results to web search queries. Dubbed Google Instant, the new user interface doesn’t actually change the results or the format of the SERPs (search engine results pages). What it does is change how fast users see results. Now it only takes one letter typed into a query box to start showing results. During the announcement presentation, Google used the letter W as an example, showing that by typing a single w into the box generated results for local weather. Furthermore, as a user types additional letters into Google, the results page will change to display what Google predicts the final search will be. Combined with the dropdown menu known as Google Suggest , there’s hardly a need for anyone to hit the search button anymore. Simply use arrow keys to scroll up and down and/or hit the enter key to choose results.

Instant search has caused an uproar in online marketing as search engine optimization(SEO) companies such as elixir interactive work to figure out what impact these changes will have on the SEO strategies in place for their clients. Early data suggests one interesting affect. Google is still showing the same results, just faster, and the top few results continue to get most clicks by an overwhelming majority. Contrary to what many predicted, tests are showing that results lower on page 1, say 8-10, are actually getting more attention as searchers scroll down the page to see what else is there. The catch is that those extra eyes are coming at the expense of page 2 and beyond.

Whether this early research will hold as more and more searchers become familiar with Google Instant remains to be seen. Users are changing the way that they interact with Google and it will likely be a few months until SEO companies can determine the lasting affects of predictive search.

Arcade Fire in Montreal

Posted: September 18th, 2010 | Author: | Filed under: Travel | Tags: | No Comments »

It takes a city as international as Montreal to give birth to some of the most accomplished cultural movers and shakers. Its history as a place where poets, artists, and musicians are drawn to live in a place where they feel free to develop their vision is well-established. From the early days of poet circles where Leonard Cohen first started investigating his talent for verse, there is a legacy of extremely interesting people, and amazing works of art and literature.

In the contemporary music scene, Montreal is all over the map, but one of its stars is Arcade Fire , whose sounds are loud and bold enough to attract people from all over to the hotels Montreal offers. They can be seen in pretty much any city around the world these days, but Montreal is the place where it all started.

When Win Butler moved here in 2001, it was a banner year for the city. Perhaps no one could have guessed it would cause such a sonic eruption, and change the way people hear music. The elements are really rather simple in their complexity. Gathering a large number of very accomplished musicians together, and getting them to play loud, with passion, and precision, is a recipe for something entirely wonderful, and entirely Montreal.

Taking Care of Good Quality Cafe Menu Covers

Whatever the choice of the cafe menu covers is to be, covers need to secure and protect the menu and protect it for many years. Plus, they showcase your business and make the restaurant look professional, detail oriented and refined. At the same time, it’s not necessary to go outside of the budget designated for the menu. Although, selecting the right ones that will leave a lasting impression on customers will help create a part of the incentive that will make them want to visit the restaurant again and again.

There’s one thing about how to maintain the cafe menus: they need to be cleaned daily. The best way to thoroughly clean any type of cover is by using a wet cloth and a gentle cleansing agent. Over a period of time, the menus will wear out and begin to degrade due to constant contact with food, drink and cleaning materials. But, if the quality is taken into consideration upon first ordering, choosing a good quality cover will ensure the menu lasts longer and saves any additional expenses.

Besides how menu covers promote a restaurant business and ensuring a long term business, how the cafe menu covers are handled and how they are stored will go a long way with determining how long the menus will last and serve the restaurant business to the fullest.

Next Day Blinds Rockville’s Award Winning Blinds Service

In this troubled economy, when many companies are cutting corners and skimping on service, those businesses that emphasize customer satisfaction are becoming more and more rare. Next Blinds Blinds Rockville is one such company.

Next Day Blinds earned the Angie’s List Super Service Award for 2009, which is reserved for companies that achieve and maintain a superior service rating on angieslist.com . These companies must maintain an overall “A” grade and not appear in the “penalty box.” In addition, they may not have an unsatisfactory rating with the Better Business Bureau. Less that 5% of the companies on Angie’s List achieve such high standards.

What does excellent customer service look like? In the case of Next Day Blinds it is stories like the following, reported by a customer named Kristin who had blinds installed by the company earlier this year:

A few days after installation, Kristin was surprised to be visited by a company representative checking up on her experience with the ordering and installation of the blinds. Kristin reported that everything was as she ordered and working fine, but that she wasn’t happy with the finished effect — something she clarified was due to her own choices and not the fault of Next Day Blinds. She was astonished to discover a few days later that the company would be replacing the blinds despite the fact that they were not at fault. The representative who had visited her was, in fact, the Vice President of the company and wanted to make sure she was completely happy with her blinds.

The Circuit and Private Clouds in Organizations

A good deal of web theory these days is written with the theorist and the computer programmer in mind, and as such, it can contain language that is rather difficult to decipher. It’s not the fault of the writers, because every new language goes through a kind of test period, where readers are getting used to the nature of the new linguistic constructions. There are also more variables in these moments, when slips of language can reveal more than they conceal, and this can become a tool for making new meanings and connections.

The network, in a metaphorical sense, has been described as both a closed and an open circuit . This is a very useful way to think about it, and to consider how web-based technologies like private cloud automation actually work. It also can reveal new paths for thought, where the description of the network actually becomes a description for the organization itself.

For some of the more advanced IT platforms, there are both open and closed circuits. This is necessary for operations that have an active profile in the business world, so that customers can access the information. It’s also necessary for some degree of closure, so that the team members can interact and make necessary changes at the last minute. Flexibility is really the key here, and there is room for modification on both large and small scales, within the network itself, and also within the organization.

Phoenix Snow Songs

Seeing snow in Phoenix happens more often than people might think. In fact, about every ten years, there’s a moment in the middle of winter, when the temperature might crack the 32 degree barrier during a rainstorm, and several flakes might even touch one’s jacket before they melt away. It’s never been a good city to see the snow, but for seeing Snow Songs , there’s nowhere better.

Phoenix has been one of the underrepresented cities for great indie music. The atmosphere is right, where the number of creative people is well past the critical mass, and spaces are still relatively cheap to rent for the night. When one has a reputation like Snow Songs, however, with their chilling and inviting melodies that blend Latin rhythms with a mix of ambient alt rock, it’s a little easier to get gigs.

They play at places like the Lost Leaf , which might look a little off-putting to guests in Phoenix luxury hotels . It’s in the heart of Roosevelt’s art district, and what looks like a hole in the wall from the outside is really a terrific space on the inside. An old house converted to a bar and band place, the local hipsters hang out with the out of towners in a lovely harmony, one that matches the band.

Employees are an intrinsic part to any organization’s success. It is crucial that employees be managed efficiently and with expertise. This is where management training is necessary if a company wishes to not only sustain a successful business, but to grow exponentially.

Management training programs will give managers the right tools and skills in order for them to bring out the best their employees have to offer and to even find abilities that an employee didn’t know they had. All professional development seminars designed for managers should include teaching managers how to find a balance between amenability and endurance. A great manager knows how to balance these two components accordingly. A good Management Training Program will teach a manager how to assess situations and adapt to new situations.

Professional Development Seminars are geared for any organizations’ management to become an inspiration and a leader. Management will understand that there are no employees who are poor performers; they will find ways to make each individual of the company capable of tremendous productivity, output and performance. Employees only fail to perform because of the poor management in the organization.

An excellent management training program will show managers how to involve employees in the planning stages of a project , which will boost morale and confidence, plus help managers narrow any communication gaps when it comes to expectations of what an employee is to accomplish. Management training will also show how managers can help develop employee’s talents, which will help with the organizations continued growth and expansion. Great management leads to a great company.
