The Eyes, the Blinds, and a Trip to the Heart

Posted: August 30th, 2010 | Author: | Filed under: Home | Tags: | No Comments »

In many different cultures, the house is conceived of as a metaphorical representation of the human body, or sometimes even the universe in a smaller version. The rooms each represent different aspects of this universe, different planets, or elements, or even emotions and thoughts. It’s a useful way to think of a house, and some arts of decorating, like feng shui , devise ways to maximize the flow of energy. In terms of the body, however, the living room or bedroom can symbolize the heart, the kitchen is the stomach, and the windows are the eyes. The eyes can look different from one day to the next day. Blinds are one way to change the shape and color of that particular seeing place.

For some, this is akin to makeup, but for others, it’s more subtle, the way that some people’s eye color has a way of changing slightly with the light, and with their mood. Places like Next Day Blinds suggest that there are infinite possibilities for what can be done to change this area of decor, but also highlight their importance. Some people like the glasses at the dollar store, because for them seeing is practical. For others, it’s the most important feature, and should be emphasized whenever possible. The eyes are the window to the soul , and they also reveal a lot about the heart, and the house is the same way.

Biofeedback and Thought Patterns

The role of positive thought patterns in one’s own daily life can have enormous influence over how the bigger picture unfolds. It’s probably something of a cliche these days to stress the importance of positive affirmations . These have entered into the mainstream of pop psychology to the point where they have almost lost their power. It’s not that they don’t work, because they certainly can, but because they’ve become part of the everyday vocabulary to the point where they become background noise.

Work with positive affirmation in deep meditation, yoga, and even in biofeedback are ways of turning this around, so that they do become powerful again. This works by letting them into one’s own consciousness while going into deeper and deeper levels of brain functioning. In this way, one can have a kind of passkey into their own psyche, and make the changes they want to make.

It takes time, and it also takes a lot of practice, and there are always frustrations involved. These usually come with impatience, because people are taught that they are entitled to get what they want almost immediately. Thought patterns don’t respond to impatience very well, and usually the mind will push back if it’s pushed hard enough. However, by taking a mindful approach , it is possible to reach these deeper levels and start to alter the way one thinks about oneself in a very positive way.

Living in big cities is something that almost every young person wants to do, for at least some time in their life. This is where the energy of youth can take on the energy of a place, and there are usually some radical mistakes, and radical successes along the way. In a city like Miami, where the cultural moment has been at a peak for some time, being young and artistic can have enormous drawbacks. It’s not an easy life at all, and it takes time and attention to maintain a life that’s meant for loftier things.

Visitors often come to the city to enjoy the clubs, spend time at a Miami hotel , and enjoy the luxuries of the town. There are plenty of opportunities to enjoy art, but they might not always be aware of them. For these reasons, groups like the Collins Park-based Cando Arts Co-Op is a great idea. It speaks to the impulse of the artists to get their work out there, and it also serves to pool resources together, so that the daily details can be minimized. It’s also a pretty spectacular gift to the locals and tourists in the city, where they can experience lots of work by local artists in one location.

Exercise and Steam Showers

Perhaps you’ve heard that steam showers may help you both mentally and physically following an exercise workout. You may have also been given a warning that this type of shower shouldn’t be used after vigorous exercise. In fact, you shouldn’t use a steam shower when your body is overheated; many of the benefits of a steam shower apply not only after a workout, though, but at any time. Such benefits include everything from stress reduction, an increased metabolism, muscle relaxation, and relief of pain.

Exercise and steam showers both reduce stress; used one after the other, more stress relief may be the result; however, again, care should be taken not to go in overheated. The steam shower can raise the internal body temperature, as can exercise. Raising that internal temperature too much may not be wise for some individuals. If you have any doubts, you should consult a doctor before using a steam shower or sauna, whether or not you’ve exercised.

That said, there are few things more relaxing than a steam shower. It can help calm the mind and soothe the muscles and increase the body’s circulation . After a workout, muscles are often tired and sore, and a steam shower will help relax them, helping to reduce any soreness the next day.

Exercise and steam showering don’t always go together, but the benefits of engaging in both activities is clear, even if those activities are not conducted at the same time.

It is universally recognized that some amenities are better in an apartment than others. Key things like having a swimming pool at the place you are renting can shoot the rent through the roof just because of what goes into putting such a thing into a house or apartment complex, how much it costs to upkeep it, and most importantly, what it is worth to most of the people who will be living there. Knowing what is most important to you when you are deciding on a place to live is the most important first step.

When you are talking to someone, like a representative of Transglobe Property Management Services make sure you let them know what things are important to you in your new place. Washing and drying machines in the house, a swimming pool , fitness spas, tennis courts, gardens. Sometimes your company representative will already know of a great place that their company rents out that will fit your needs. If they are large enough, like Transglobe Property Management Services you may even be in luck and be able to find it in your price range. However, many of us want more than we can have, so you should also know what you are willing to give up.

US Open has no Top 10 Men Tennis Players

Posted: August 10th, 2010 | Author: | Filed under: Sports | Tags: | No Comments »

Historically, the United States has always had one man in the top 10 for tennis ranking, but that has changed. Last week Andy Roddick was No. 9, but he fell to No. 12. The US Tennis Open will not have any US men ranked in the top 10 for the first time since 1973. Some feel this might affect the attendance for the Open, which is certainly not something to be taken lightly.

Experts say it isn’t surprising about losing the top 10 Ranking, all we need to do is look at the global nature of the game and the way the game has changed. Tennis players are now participating from all over the world. The US crowds prefer name-recognition, because most tennis fans are of the casual fan or even the non-tennis fan, and if there isn’t an American household name being mentioned, not only attendance may go down, but viewership as well.

There are still many excellent tennis players that will rack up US Open tennis scores that will start making them an American household name. However, that will only happen during the tournament and not before. Roddick will naturally return to the top 10 shortly, and so will Isner and Querrey, but will it be in enough time?

The United States Tennis Association has put their money into developing more tennis players that will have the ability to stay in the top 10 ranking throughout all the tournaments; for the continued success of the U.S. Open, as well as helping with continued success of TV deals, growing of the game and bringing in more Americans to watch the US Tennis Open.
